Intu – Big Bugs on Tour
Bringing the outdoors indoors, we made 12 huge bugs for the biennial intu tour. We wanted to bring shoppers closer to nature and highlight the importance of insects to the planet.
We picked some of the UK’s favourite and best known bugs, like the honeybee and ladybird, and a few of the more unusual species like the nut weevil and rose chafer beetle.
Launched with the help of Chris Packham, the models are hyper-realistic, incredibly detailed and have gone down a storm with the public.
The UK tour lasted over 18 months with the bugs spending a month in each of the intu centres, spread throughout Britain. There was also an outreach programme with local schools, teaching them about the importance of insects in a fun and engaging way, very important in the current climate.
The local children also had the chance to enter a competition to design their own bugs, with the winner getting a beautiful handmade model of their bug.
